I’ve sat and read this over and over and realized just how true this actually is. Jesus Christ.

“I know for many years, we have been taught that the Civil War was all about the abolition of slavery, but this truly did not become a major issue, with the exception of John Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry, until after the Battle of Antietam in September 1862, when Abraham Lincoln decided to free the slaves in the Confederate States in order to punish those states for continuing the war effort. The war had been in progress for two years by that time.

Most southerners did not even own slaves nor did they own plantations. Most of them were small farmers who worked their farms with their families. They were fighting for their rights. They were fighting to maintain their lifestyle and their independence the way they wanted to without the United States Government dictating to them how they should behave.”

SIGN THE PETITION: Remove The African American Monument In South Carolina

    image
The African American Monument on the South Carolina State House grounds was erected in 2001 as part of a bi-partisan compromise reached in 2000 to move the Confederate battle flag from the State House dome and place it at the Confederate Soldier’s Monument. Why are they taking away the Confederate flag, and talking about taking down the Jefferson Monument? The Confederate flag has nothing to do with racism, just because it was seen with people associated with racism doesn’t mean the flag is a symbol for racism. Just like with everything else, there are good and bad people. In every race, religion, gender, and anything else you have your good and then the bad. But because of the bad they are taking away a symbol of history, and trying to get statues, dedicated to history, taken down. Yet if I remember, they didn’t do anything about the people walking over the American flag? All of it is just dividing us even more. We were all born on Earth, we were all born as human beings. Why can’t we just realize that we all have rights, beliefs, and differences, and just accept it already. Let’s focus on progressing ourselves, instead of hindering ourselves, and making everything worse. What happened to the Golden Rule, treat others as you would like to be treated? That’s been going through my heart, and mind. Is how we seem to focus on trying to divide ourselves more, instead of trying to focus on more serious issues, helping people, curing health issues, protecting the world, and other issues like that. Feel free to judge me, or delete me if you disagree with my beliefs. I hope the best for everyone.
